Faith, Food, & Community: Resources for Healthy Living
Saturday, March 24, 2018, 10:00am - 01:00pm

Thank you for attending the Partners in Faith listening session in February to help us design a community food workshop that works best for our local faith community! We listened to your feedback and are excited to host you March 24 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Center for Energy Education in Roanoke Rapids, 460 Airport Road 27870. Registration begins at 9:30 on the day of the event. Lunch will be provided. The workshop is free, but space is limited, so go to the event page to reserve your spot: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/faith-food-community-resources-for-healthy-living-tickets-44237881695.

Partners in Faith is an interfaith network in the Roanoke Valley dedicated to addressing the overall health and wellbeing of congregations and communities, and supported by the Roanoke Valley Community Health Initiative. The Faith, Food, & Community workshop will link people to resources and information on community gardens, nutrition education, food pantries, health ministries, and healthy food preparation, and is part of our work to increase access to fresh foods and build up our communities.

Resource providers and organizations offering technical assistance will lead sessions to help people get started with food projects at their places of worship or community organizations. A guest speaker from Rural Advancement Foundation International will open the day with a talk on health equity in local foods and making sure everyone has access to foods and programs. Reverend Richard Joyner from Conetoe Family Life Center will offer a keynote address on community food programs in faith communities and the impact they can have.
