Places to Explore, Move, and Play
First National Child Vehicular Heatstroke Awareness and Prevention Day of the year is April 26, 2017
Sadly, this year five children have already died from heatstroke inside vehicles and summer is still two months away.
Please help show your support on Wednesday, April 26 by spreading the messages of awareness and prevention of vehicular heatstroke across all social media platforms. Be sure to use the hashtags #heatstrokekills and #lookbeforeyoulock.
The Roanoke Valley Community Health Initiative (RV-CHI) with support from Healthy Places NC an initiative of the Kate B. Reynolds Charitable Trust, is putting resources for physical activity and recreation at people’s fingertips with the release of the Places to Explore, Move and Play map. The map highlights community organizations, pools, farmers markets, parks, trails, senior centers, playgrounds and more across Halifax County.
“Parents, families and individuals can all find something that suits them. The map highlights so many wonderful places to play and be active and the benefit to families for their social, emotional and physical health is tremendous, said Magda Baligh, RV-CHI member and Executive Director, Halifax - Warren Smart Start Partnership for Children, Inc.”
